Tuesday March 26th, 2019 – Addolorata De Luca’s (Nonna) 105th birthday

I am excited to announce the first recipient of The Addolorata De Luca Leadership Scholarship. Siddhartha Sood is a first-generation Canadian whose family immigrated in the 1970s from Ludhiana, Punjab, to Windsor. Although they had little money and knew limited English, they worked hard to establish their own successful business. Siddhartha is proud of his family’s story and states that “my family never forgets how we came to Canada. We always make our hardships become motivation for how we grow.”

Siddhartha, a second-year Biology student with over a 90% average, embodies The ADL Scholarship’s mission--honouring our ancestors while giving back to the next generation of student leaders. Siddhartha’s leadership commitments are extensive. He volunteers at Windsor Regional Hospital in the Eye surgery clinic, is the Founder and President of the Heart and Stroke Club, is a Windsor SOS Exam Tutor for Cell Biology and Biodiversity, is an Executive Member of Caring for Cambodia, and is a Volunteer Recruitment Officer for Let’s Talk Science. The list goes on.

I look forward to seeing this scholarship grow and continue to help new students every year. If you would like to assist deserving students, such as Siddhartha, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Cessidia De Biasio, Founder of The Addolorata De Luca Leadership Scholarship
